3. Discarded wings

In spring, reproductive termites (called swarmers or alates) fly out to start new colonies, shed their wings, and die. If you find piles of tiny transparent wings near window sills, light fixtures, or spider webs, you've got termites — not flying ants.

4. Frass (termite droppings)

Drywood termites push their droppings out of small kick-out holes in wood. It looks like fine sawdust or coffee grounds, usually in small piles below the infested area.

5. Bubbling paint or wallpaper

Termite activity creates moisture and gas pockets that cause paint to bubble or wallpaper to peel from underneath. Often mistaken for water damage — but if there's no obvious leak source, suspect termites.

6. Sticky doors and windows
